Cycle Training Weekends - Sample Itinerary
Friday Night
Arrive at Lorne/Apollo Bay accommodation at your leisure (or we can provide you with transport from Melbourne). A hearty home-cooked meal (Oven baked chicken, leek and mushroom risotto with garlic Turkish bread anyone?) will be waiting for you (various dietary requirements can be catered for)
Saturday
Get up early to hit the roads at their quietest. Have yourself a big breakfast (Slow-cooked Apple Porridge maybe?) and head off in the direction of the famous Lavers Hill, or simply along the spectacular Great Ocean Road, or a bit of both. You could even throw in a big loop incorporating Deans Marsh or Forrest, its up to you. You can choose anywhere from 10km for the day, to hundreds of kms, its your training weekend afterall.
There will be a support car (or multiple, depending on the number in your group) out on the course for emergencies. You will need to be self sufficient in terms of spares, and mechanical issues, however you can have the peace of mind knowing the car is there in an emergency, or if you find you have bitten off more than you can chew in terms of distance, and need a lift home!
Return to the house, where another hearty home-cooked meal awaits, slow cooked Mexican chicken burritos maybe?
Sunday
Again another early start, but its the best time of day on the roads! Get some breaky into your belly, and its another day of choose your own adventure on the bike. However when deciding, keep in mind that we will need to check out of the house by lunchtime...and you may want a shower! The support car will be around till the last rider is home.
