Shane Hutton
I`m an Ultra Runner, Mountain Biker, Climber, Ironman and All-round Challenge Seeker. Also a La Sportiva, iO Merino & Kokopelli Packraft Ambassador.
Some of my key achievements include Ironman Busselton finisher in 2010, Great Ocean Walk 100km Ultra Marathon finisher in 2011, finisher at the 100 mile Leadville Ultra Marathon in the high mountains of Colorado in under 30 hours in 2012, winner of the Mt Feathertop Skyrun 38km.
But of greater note, I love creating my own events & expeditions
Shane's Run Around the Bay
In August 2013, I ran 224km around Port Phillip Bay, near Melbourne, to raise $10,000 for Shake It Up, in 34 hours, the last 70kms with a torn calf. See the Around the Bay video here.
Tassie Traverse
In March 2014, I ran from the northern-most point of Tasmania, to the Southern-most point, a journey of 672kms. I dealt with a load of fun stuff, from days of waist deep mud, to leeches and overgrown trails, and had one hell of an adventure doing it! Check out the Tassie Traverse video here.
Everesting on Foot
Have you head of Everesting? Its where a cyclist rides non stop up and down a mountain until he reaches 8,848m of ascent, the equivalent height of Mt Everest. But on a random Wednesday in July 2014, I decided I didn't need a bike, so I "Everested on foot", a total of 27 laps (56kms) of the steep and technical Glasgow Track in the Dandenongs, over 16 hours. Just a midweek microadventure! Read my Everesting Blog here.
I am passionate about escaping to the mountains and running or riding single track whenever I can. I`m even more passionate about sharing the buzz that only exploring trails can give!
My fave running trails are Mt Buller, the Tongariro and Mt Ruapehu area of NZ and the Dandenongs which are at my front door! And if given the choice, I would ride the Redwoods in Rotorua for weeks on end!
When I`m not running, I run my own landscaping business in Melbourne, Prestigious Landscapes.
