Part 3 - Daylesford To Ballarat
Wallaby Track- 72kms
10-12 October 2014
Track Notes
A gradual downhill run out of Daylesford, the track makes its way through the Wombat Forest, and into mining areas and out into rolling pastoral country.
Here undulating 4WD roads are interspersed with occasional bursts of single-track. It's shaley, rooty and all natural, just as the Goldfields Track was when it was first tramped in the 19th century.
On just about any day you'll spot prospectors out trying their luck panning for gold, as you make your way finally to your victorious finish to Ballarat!

Friday night – Comfortable accommodation in a house in Ballarat (twin/triple share). Own dinner at the pub. You need to make your own way to Ballarat to meet the group (train or drive). (There are 2 seats in the car with Shane and Richelle, first in first served),
Saturday – Get up bright and early, enjoy home-made slow-cooker porridge, and hit the trail. The plan is to make Saturday's run longer than Sunday, to break the back of this section of trail on the first day! We will aim for around a marathon today! **As always, the support car will be there if you wish to run less than that today***
Once we are done, we will give you a lift back to our house in Ballarat. Spend the rest of your afternoon exploring, relaxing in the warm house, eating scones, or even taking a nap! Dinner tonight is Richelle's home cooked deliciousness in our house. Accommodation is twin/triple share.
Sunday – Another early start, with more apple porridge. We will shuttle you back to where you finished yesterday to continue your run. Today is around 30kms-ish. Again, a light lunch will be provided. After finishing, its time to kick back in Ballarat with a coffee, or even a big fat greasy burger, and reflect on your achievement – 72km in 2 days! Finally its time to make your own way back from Ballarat, train, or drive.
Price - $315 pp/twin/triple share. This includes comfortable accommodation, support car and 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 1 dinner.

Please note: You will need to be fully self sufficient on the trail. We will provide you with a map, and Shane will be out running on the trail at the same time. Conditions can change quickly, so you are expected to carry wet weather gear, thermals, head torch and space blanket. You will need the ability to carry at least 1.5L of water. You need to provide your own nutrition outside of main meals. There will be a support car at various points along the trail, however be aware it will be providing emergency support for all runners, so it may take some time to access if you need it.
